Blessings of the Summer Solstice to everyone!!! It’s a lovely day here with hot sunshine and a nice cool breeze. I’m looking forward to having some ice cream later on too :)
I’ve been outside blowing bubbles with my cat Snowdrop already today, and it’s lovely and relaxing! It’s strange to think this will be my last day at home, for a few months anyway, as I’m moving away to Arran to work over the summer, and I’m leaving tomorrow! Excited!
I’m moving!!! To a wonderful, sunny, warm island with palm trees………………..in Scotland!!!
I’m going to live on Arran with a friend, and work over the summer, then come back home for Uni starting up again. I already have a job there, and it’s just a case of moving my things down and getting settled.
I’m moving everything - which consists of one large suitcase and a harp - down on Thursday. Getting soo excited! And nervous too, travelling with a harp is awkward, even when it’s a small one. Really looking forward to it all though! :D
Exam results came out today and I passed!!! Yay!!!!
Got two C’s and a B which I’m delighted with!! (Especially as I was worrying a bit about how the exams went) So far on my course I’ve managed to get mainly B’s with a couple A’s and some C’s so delighted with how well it’s going!!!
Now I can enjoy the summer and a well-earned holiday!!
The longest day of the year is next week! It’s known by many names, Summer Solstice, Longest Day, Litha, and Midsummers are a few. Despite being the longest day of Summer, the Solstice also marks the time when the days start getting shorter, regardless that in Scotland we get most (if any) of our sunshine around July/August, and sometimes some in June too.
The actual date varies from year to year, but is always around the 21st June. This year the date is20’th June 2012.
I’ve always celebrated the Solstice in one way or another, mum used to take us for walks and long picnics to take advantage of the extra sunlight. Although living where we live, it hardly gets dark here anyway. And up in Orkney and Shetland they play golf at midnight because the sky is so light. Right now, it only starts getting dark around 11.00pm at night, which can make it hard to sleep sometimes, especially if you’re not used to it.
Thanks for reading! :)

I don’t think I will ever truly be happy until I have one of those secret bookshelf doors where you have to pull out a certain book to open the door.
So true!!! And so epic!!! I asked dad if he could make me one of those, he said it was possible!!! So when I get my own house….
